The MSP seeks to expedite permits that companies require and is committed to hybrid work or teleworking.
The Chamber of Free Trade Zones of Uruguay seeks, together with government authorities, to improve and optimize the operation of these customs exclaves. According to conversations between the newspaper El Observador and its president, Diego Licio, they said that they are working with the authorities of the Executive Branch to carry out cross-border ecommerce, that is, the possibility of shipping merchandise from free zones to third countries and even to Uruguay.
Licio commented to the same news portal: "That would be a great goal because ecommerce is exploding everywhere and free zones and the Uruguayan logistics system should not be left out".
From the free zones, there is great demand and interest regarding the Executive's regulation of the Teleworking law that Parliament approved, mainly for a small group of workers who can work from home, such as computer engineers.
The free zones have a special interest in enabling a smaller percentage of the workforce of the firms - which are based in these free territories - to be able to use the option of working from home, in particular, for positions such as computer engineering.
In addition, the Senate is discussing the possibility of including within the MEF a directorate of free zones, since it would speed up negotiations and procedures with the exclaves. The government has already announced that it has advanced the authorization for three free zones in Colonia, Maldonado and Artigas.
